Episode 82 - Everlasting Father
His Name Shall Be Called
John 1:1-14
Isaiah 9:6 – a child is born (Baby) and His name will be Everlasting Father (God)
Don’t miss what Isaiah is saying, so clearly - This baby will be God. He said it 2 chapters earlier in Isaiah 7:14 – and Matthew connects the dots for us in his very Jewish Gospel. - Matthew 1:22-23
Everlasting Father – The Baby is God; Jesus is God
The Apostle John also makes this very clear in the opening
words of His Gospel - John 1:1, 14 – The Word was God; The Word became Flesh.
**This Word of God, our Creator, became a man; humbled Himself; emptied Himself of the rights of the Godhead & submitted himself to the constraints of flesh & blood. Taking the time to grow & develop & live through all of the stages of humanity, until in the prime of manhood, he willingly went to the cross to be tortured & pierced for us.
Therefore, as Phil 2:9-11 says – God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Jesus is our Everlasting Father, our God & we worship Him. We proclaim the Scriptures, ‘Jesus Christ is Lord!”
Jesus is God!
This changes everything. I challenge you to read the Gospels against the backdrop that ‘Jesus is God’ – 90 days
John 10:27-33
What difference does this make? John 20:31
1. It matters in how you live. John 10:10
a. For His purposes and not your own!
b. Ephesians 2:8-10
2. It matters in how you treat others – Philippians 2:3 – 11
It should radically impact your selfishness, because it gives you a model of humility.
Don’t think less of yourself; but think of yourself, less!
3. It matters in how you will die!
a. Appointment …then the judgment! Hebrews 9:27
b. But for the believer, your sin has already been judged on the Cross
c. The first one to experience that was the Thief on the Cross. Luke 23:42-4
d. You will die in Peace, Assurance, and in Victory! 1 Corinthians 15:50-58
e. V 58 takes us back to how we live until we die – Steadfast, immovable, always abounding…knowing, that your labor is not in vain
f. How do we know that? Because Jesus, this child born to us; this Baby in the Manger, is, in fact, Our Creator God. He is our Everlasting Father !
