Know God More
Psalm 46:10
1. We must ponder the paradox.
a. How do we know the unknowable?
b. How can the finite mind know the Infinite?
c. Can the Created know the Creator?
d. Only, as He allows us to, and He does!
2. Consider the Invitation. Psalm 46:10
a. Our Stillness is the Key – Take. Your. Hands. Off. Wiersbe
b. That is why Satan loves noise, and our Flesh loves activity. And, Activity, especially too much of it, produces Anxiety….
3. Admit the Hunger. Matthew 5:6; Philippians 3:7-10
a. I want to know Him
b. You really are curious to know how you could grow deeper in your personal relationship with God…
c. Tozier – ‘What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.’
d. P. 9 – The yearning to know..
4. Recognize the Essence. John 17:3
a. Knowing God is the essence of Eternal Life!
b. And so, we ask the question, ‘What is God like? Tozer – p 11
5. Commit Your Heart! 2 Peter 3:17-18
a. Peter at the end of his life…
b. Paul, from a prison cell…
c. Nothing matters more – There is no greater thing!
6. Take the Steps – A. W. Tozer – The Knowledge of the Holy, p 114-117
a. Forsake sin – Blessed are the PURE in Heart, for they shall see God!
b. Commit your whole life to Christ by Faith
i. Obey, deny, die, love
c. Walk in the Spirit – Rom 6:11; Gal 5:16 – producing the Fruit of the Spirit
d. Simplify your life’s concerns – we have too much going on – Luke 10:41
e. Meditate on the Majesty of God – Yarrow offer – start small; build strong
f. Serve/Share out of the Overflow – give away what you learn!
Oh, Friends! Let us commit our hearts, one-by-one, to the goal of knowing God more in 2024. If we get serious about Knowing Him, and then obeying what we learn in the process, we will have a year like no other!
