Know God More
Exodus:15:22-27; Matthew 8:14-17; Isaiah 53:4-5
1. It’s not about the healing.
a. Because God has a higher purpose
i. At the bitter waters – Their obedience
ii. At the sickbed – Her service
iii. With the oppressed – Fulfilling prophecy
1. Showing who He is!
iv. In His own life – Resurrection Power for all who believe; Death Defeated
b. Because we have a deeper need
i. Matthew 9:1-8
ii. For the paralyzed man…and us – Forgiveness!
2. It’s not about the pain
a. He knows, understands, and cares about the physical pain, the mental anguish, the emotional turmoil – We’ll see that in the weeks leading up to Good Friday
b. He experienced all of that, horrifically, to the point of forsakenness – My God, My God – Why have You forsaken me?
c. Yet, there was a higher purpose – Tetelestai!
3. It’s about our forgiveness and freedom!
a. Matthew 9:1-8, again
b. Jesus touches the deepest need
c. Jesus establishes His authority to forgive
d. Jesus heals for the Glory of God
4. Our Healer has higher purposes! Let’s trust His healing power.
a. James 5:13-16
