John 1:1-18; Revelation 19:11-16; Hebrews 4:12-13
1. Jesus is The First WORD of Creation
a. The Word of Life
b. The Word of Light – v5-10
i. Darkness has not
ii. Darkness will not – overcome it!
2. Jesus is The WORD of Salvation – v11-13
a. John 6:47 – … has Everlasting Life
b. John 14:6 – The WORD is The WAY!
c. Acts 4:12 – The only Way
3. Jesus is The WORD of Presence – v14-15
a. with us & like us & for us
b. He understands us
c. Relates to us
i. As our Comforter – Hebrews 4:15-16
ii. As our Example
1. John 13:13-15 – Serve like me
2. John 15:12-14 – Love like me
3. John 20:21 – As our Resurrected Lord - Go like me!
4. We know how, because He came & did it for us and with us – and then commissions us & empowers us to follow Him.
4. Jesus is The WORD of GRACE & TRUTH – v16-18
a. The perfect balance
i. We need Grace, because of the Truth about us
ii. We have Grace available to us, because of the Truth about Him
iii. We tend to either:
1. License – Grace, without Truth
2. Legalism – Truth, without Grace
b. The perfect representation of God, the Father - Colossians 1:19-20
5. Not only is He is first WORD of Creation, but He will be The Last WORD of Judgment
a. Revelation 19:11-16
b. He’s coming again to execute the full Wrath of God on those who refuse His Salvation
i. This should convict us if we don’t know Him
ii. Sober us if we do – SOBER & Motivate us to take this great Gospel message around the corner and around the World to all who need to hear the Gospel of HOPE!
c. The First WORD & the Last WORD – Rev 22:12-13
d. Conclusion – v 14-15
i. Make no mistake, there is an inside and an outside!
