Acts 1:1-11; 2:1-8, 38
1. Jesus passes the ‘Baton of Presence’ to the Holy Spirit
a. He will take it back one day – v4
b. Until then, The Spirit is given to Believers - 2:38
c. Jesus said this was for our benefit. - John 16:7
2. The Spirit baptizes believers. v5; 2:4
a. He comes to Help. Comfort, Guide, Convict
b. He indwells us and fills us to accomplish our Kingdom purpose.
i. Ephesians 5:18-21, be being filled…
ii. We leak…
3. The Spirit empowers believers. v8
a. Individually
b. Corporately – witnesses, plural, as evidenced in Acts 2 when all 120 (Acts 1:15) are filled
4. The Spirit is HOLY; He makes us HOLY! – 1 Peter 1:13-16 quoting Leviticus 19:2
a. Separation – He calls us away from, ... and leads us to a dissatisfaction with the world’s empty promises – (lies)
b. Consecration – He leads us to commit by faith to the sure promises of God
i. Romans 8:13-14
c. Devotion – We fall in love with Him as He focuses us on His faithfulness to His promises.
d. Abstention – Our spirit begins to align with His Spirit in us.
i. Romans 8:1-8
ii. He doesn’t condemn us; He convicts us and draws us deeper to Know Him more!
5. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in your heart, today!
a. You be Holy, for I am Holy
i. Separation
– What/who do you need to move away from?
ii. Consecration
– What/who do you need to draw closer to?
iii. Devotion
– Who do you need to focus on? Hint: The answer is God – Father, Son, Spirit.
iv. Abstention
– What passion do you need to starve to enable His Spirit free reign in your life?
6. He is the Holy Spirit!
a. Experience & obey Him today!
