We begin on this Palm Sunday with Christ’s Deeper Purpose:
Luke 9:51 – When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.
This was His deeper purpose – the purpose John the Baptist recognized when he introduced Jesus to his disciples in John 1:29
- The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
This was the Purpose of Substitution by Christ
– He died in our place – 2 Cor 5:21 - For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Consider His Deeper Purpose:
1. He came to rescue usfrom our sin. John 3:16-17 – The Lamb of God – John 1:29
1 Cor 5:7 – Our Passover Lamb – sinless, pure, unblemished, slain
2. He came to establish the Way to God. Prov 14:12 – Matthew 7:13-14 - John 14:6
3. He came to commission an army. Mt 28:16-20
4. He came for the Joy of Pleasing His Father - Heb 12:1-2
5. He is coming again to receive His due Worship – Rev 5
Do you know Him?
Have you received Him?
Are you living for Him?
