Why did God become a man?
Genesis 1:26-28, 31; John 1:1-18; Philippians 2:5-11
1. Because of His Image in us – Life (Genesis 1:26-28, 31; John 1:1-3)
- a. This is why all human life is precious and to be valued; distinct from all other life forms – Genesis 2:7 – a living soul – the breath of life…
- b. Marred – Darkness
- c. Restored – reborn – to restore the Light
2. Because of His Intent for us – Love (John 3:16)
- a. The motive was Love!
- b. The motive was rescue – from ourselves
- c. The motive was reconciliation – redemption – to buy us back!
- d. The motive was/is Adoption – 11-13
3. To Identify with Us– Coming to Abide (John 1:14)
- a. To dwell
- b. To show His Glory
- c. To shower us with Grace
- d. To convict us with Truth
- e. To perfectly balance what we need.
- f. To make God known; and knowable – v 18 and John 14:9
- g. Hebrews 4:14-16
4. Do you know Him? He came for you? How do you respond to a God like that?
