3. The European Union's Digital Markets Act came into effect at midnight Wednesday. The DMA is a set of regulations passed to reign in the dominance of the six big tech companies classed as “gatekeepers” — Amazon, Apple, Google parent Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft and TikTok owner ByteDance.
