1. According to the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, South Korea on Thursday succeeded in launching its homegrown space rocket, Nuri, placing 8 satellites, including the next generation small satellite, the NEXTSAT-2 satellite, into Earth’s orbit.

2. South Korea’s main opposition, Democratic Party, launched a signature campaign on Friday to oppose Japan’s planned release of radioactive water from its Fukushima nuclear power plant. Meanwhile, South Korea’s 21-member inspection team returned home in the afternoon to report their inspection results.

3. South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution announced Friday to invest 5.7 trillion won (or 4.3 billion USD) in a battery cell plant in the United States as a response to the Inflation Reduction Act signed into law by the U.S. President Joe Biden.
