1. South Korea’s Board of Audit and Inspection said Wednesday it has initiated preparations to look into what went wrong in the hosting of the 25th World Scout Jamboree. The Board vowed to conduct a thorough inspection from the winning of the right to host the event to its closure.

2. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said to Bloomberg News on Wednesday that the world would never accept North Korea as a nuclear weapons power. He further said the door is open to a possible breakthrough in cooperation on deterrence with the U.S. and Japan during the trilateral summit this Friday.

3. Maui County officials said Tuesday the death toll in the Maui wildfires has risen to 106, a week after flames burned through the Hawaiian island. Authorities said only five of the dead had been identified and released two names.
