1. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Thursday met with global Korean community leaders in a ceremony marking the 17th World Korean Day. President Yoon vowed to widen the “playing field” for overseas Koreans.

2. Japan on Thursday morning began the second phase of discharging wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean. Japanese media reported the second phase to last until October 23rd, and estimated the total discharge amount at 7,800 tons.

3. FIFA on Wednesday revealed plans for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by six countries across three continents to celebrate its 100th anniversary as Uruguay, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will co-host, with Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina each holding an opening match.
