Description

1. The deadly crowd crush in Itaewon on Saturday night took the lives of at least 154 people and injured 149 others. The tragedy happened Saturday when a massive crowd of Halloween partygoers filled a narrow alley in the district of Itaewon, causing people to fall down and pile up on one another.

2. On Sunday, South Korea’s President Yoon Suk-yeol declared a period of national mourning for the victims of the human stampede at Itaewon which occurred the day before the declaration. The national mourning period will run through November 5th. 

3. South Korea and the United States began the Vigilant Storm drill which is one of their largest combined military drills on Monday to boost combat readiness for wartime contingencies. During the 5-day drill, the allies are mobilizing 240 combat aircraft, including F-35B stealth jets.
