1. South Korea’s Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a lower courts’ acquittal of nine former officials of the Korea Coast Guard, who were all charged with failing to carry out their duty in the rescue operation for the sinking of the Sewol ferry in April 2014.
2. According to Statistics Korea on Thursday, South Korea’s inflation grew at a faster pace in October, staying above 3 percent for the third straight month. Finance Minister Choo Kyung-ho said that “inflation is expected to ease at a slower pace than expected.”
3. The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant on Thursday began its 3rd release of treated wastewater into the sea. The plant operator discharged 7,800 tons of treated water in each of the first two batches, and plans to release the same amount this time through November 20th.
