1. President Yoon Suk Yeol on Wednesday named Kim Hong-il as the new head of the Korea Communications Commission. Kim is the current head of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and is to replace Lee Dong-kwan as chairman of the state broadcasting watchdog.

2. South Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare announced Wednesday that it held an expert advisory meeting with the Presidential Committee on Aging Society and Population Policy in response to the nation's low birth rate.

3. Israel said Tuesday that its troops had entered Gaza’s second-largest city in a new phase of the war. The military said its forces were “in the heart” of Khan Younis, which has emerged as the first target in the expanded ground offensive into southern Gaza.
