Brendan Canning is a Toronto-based musician and founding member of the seminal indie rock band Broken Social Scene. Fresh off the heels of celebrating the 20th anniversary of their wildly influential album 'You Forgot It In People', Brendan sat down with the Josh and Austin to discuss their recent show at History, new music, driving between Canadian cities, touring as a DJ with The Tragically Hip, bands that won't break out of Canada, his first band hHead, niche audiences, artists not realizing they're entertainers, older bands dressing better than younger bands, HMV's return policy, the first BSS album 'Feel Good Lost', 'Trucker Speed', the first BSS show, recording 'You Forgot It In People', working as a PA on music videos in the 90s, Pizza Gigi, Indie Sleaze, getting lumped in with The Strokes and the New York music scene of the early 2000's, taking ecstasy for the first time, writing TV jingles, his brief period as a member of the band Len, finding the sample for 'Steal My Sunshine', Len inadvertently helping launch BSS, Norman Wong makes a surprise appearance, 'This Movie Is Broken', living in the same house since 1995, bad music at restaurants, Meryl Streep joining the band on stage in New York, their next album and much more!
