John 15:18 (KJV):
"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."
In this verse, Jesus acknowledges that the world's hatred towards His followers is not something unexpected or random. He affirms that the same hostility was directed towards Him when He walked the earth. The world's animosity stems from the fact that Jesus and His teachings challenge the values and principles of the world. The world may view Christ's followers as a threat to its established norms and systems, leading to a clash of ideologies.
