1 How Compassion Flows Luke 7:11-17 June 14, 2020

WORDS: Compassion | Touch

Big Idea: God visits His people through compassion.

1. Compassion begins with proximity. Luke 7:12-13 (NLT) A funeral procession was coming out as he approached the village gate. The young man who had died was a widow’s only son, and a large crowd from the village was with her. When the Lord saw her, His heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” He said.

Prayer 1: Heavenly Father, please give me eyes that see.

2. Compassion sprouts with insight. Luke 7:12 (NLT) …The young man who had died was a widow’s only son…

Prayer 2: Heavenly Father, please give me a heart that discerns. 3. Compassion touches through spontaneity. Luke 7:14a (NIV) Then Jesus went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. Numbers 19:11 (NLT) All those who touch a dead human body will be ceremonially unclean for seven days.

Prayer 3: Heavenly Father, please give me courage to love.
