Luke 6:12-13 (NLT) Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and He prayed to God all night. At daybreak He called together all of His disciples and chose twelve of them to be apostles.

Big Idea:

Mentors exponentialize impact.

1. Mentors are forward-looking problem-solvers.

Acts 11:20-21, 25 (NLT) Some of the believers who went to Antioch from Cyprus and Cyrene began preaching to the Gentiles about the Lord Jesus. The power of the Lord was with them, and a large number of these Gentiles believed and turned to the Lord. Then Barnabas went on to Tarsus to look for Saul.

2. Mentors think team.

Acts 11:26a (NLT) When [Barnabus] found [Saul], he brought him back to Antioch.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NLT) Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

3. Mentors personally invest themselves into people.

Acts 11:26b (NLT) Both of them [Barnabus and Saul] stayed there with the church for a full year [in Antioch], teaching large crowds of people. It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.
