Ep.27 How We Learn Math feat. Christal Gamble
Welcome back! This week I chatted with my friend, Alabama native, Christal Gamble to discuss how her genius unschooler learns math. It's a conversation about all things math—from curriculum to future careers for problem solvers and creatives. This is a conversation you don't want to miss.
For many, math is extremely unfun and highly cumulative. Only a handful of unschoolers find the subject to be engaging where they can build on the foundation of their previous math skills. So what does unschooling + math mean? That's easy, guilt-free learning. There is no need to force the subject upon your child.
In This Episode
In this episode, Christal shares how her son was gifted from the start. At 4 years old he entered preschool with a third grade reading level. Her son has been able to use mental math with all four basic operations as a magic trick for anyone who tries to quiz him. For fun, he memorizes the digits of Pi. These are just a few of the reasons why Christal knew that public school was not a good option for her son.
