Ep.9 Let's Debunk Unschooling Myths
There are so many misconceptions and myths about unschooling. We've talked a bit about what unschooling is. Let's talk about what unschooling is not.
Self-directed education better known as unschooling is authentic, organic and unique. We always hear so many conflicting ideas about what it means to be an unschooler. However, these myths and misconceptions usually are stated by people who are not unschoolers and have not participated in the practice of unschooling. So let's tackle a few of these myths and misconceptions this week.

In This Episode
In this episode I'm sharing a few highlights about what unschooling is and what unschoolers do. Unschoolers are intentional. We are able to adjust and be flexible while practicing autonomy, critical thinking and freedom. Unschoolers investigate and analyze choices without being forced or told. We are able to define what success looks like individually while adapting and pivoting when needed. Unschoolers learn how things work in the world around us. We lead whole and healthy lives while gaining valuable experiences as parents and children.
It's important to observe that we are all doing our best without having to conform to the ideas of others—without being slammed for our decisions. It's okay to not have the cookie-cutter approach to life. Don't be tricked or fooled. Your child can and will be successful. Unschooling is not competition. Unschooling is a choice. Unschooling is a lifestyle.
