Arlon Chaffee is my guest this week. Arman, as he’s called, is the unofficial Grand Poobah of all things gravel cycling here in New Hampshire. Heck, he practically invented the sport. Not only is he an enthusiastic and gracious ambassador of the sport (if ever presented with the chance, don’t pass up a group ride with him), he’s also the race director of some the friendliest and most beloved gravel rides in New Hampshire and Vermont. But as most things go, he didn’t start his journey in endurance sports as a cyclist. He tells that funny and fascinating story as a segue to both gravel riding and semi-retirement.
