My husband and I have been reading Orwell’s 1984 together and, although every characteristic of the story does not align with our present day, the majority of the similarities are striking as well as horrifying. One of these similarities is the job of the main character, Winston Smith. He, essentially, rewrites pieces of history, that Big Brother deems unnecessary or in error, or erases it altogether. This includes any written literature save none.
As an advocate for truth, I chose to stray off the beaten path for the next three months and share some nitty gritty truth about Americas’ history. The anniversary of these events occurred within either October, November, or December.
