Are you feeling anxious and overwhelmed by everything?

Have you ever had the feeling when you’re traveling somewhere new for the first time.  You’re anxious, excited, nervous, worried, whatever...there's new unfamiliar emotions to this adventure because you’ve never traveled this way before.  I know, on the way back from many of these adventures with my family, every one of them has said, “it seemed so much further on the way here than it did going home.”  I used to run a lot and one of my favorite runs was to run from my house out to the Cowiche Canyon Uplands trail.  The first time I did this, it seemed so much quicker on the way back home. After turning around, I knew the route and could just focus on the next turn, hill, or straight-away.  Folks, we haven’t reached the turnaround yet and I’m not sure when we will.  But I have a feeling that when we do, it’s going to seem so much easier.  It’s always easier when you can see the end...when we know what’s coming...when worry and anxieties don’t get in the way.  I would like to encourage you right now to focus on just that: right now.  Are you going up a hill, heading into a valley, do you have a turn coming, are you just struggling to make the next step...focus on that.  And then the next step. And the next step.  I’ll let you in on a quote I heard: “When we struggle before it is necessary, we will struggle more than is necessary.” Are you struggling?  We’d love to help, so if we can help encourage you in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact any WVJH staff member.  The staff directory is in the message notes.
