Hannah Davey and Tyler Hartman are here to talk about music! Tyler is a dad rock (formerly punk) musician with industry knowledge and music production experience; Hannah Davey is a media enthusiast, writer, and podcast producer with opinions.
In this episode, Tyler and Hannah Davey discuss the value of long songs versus short songs. Tyler recommends Between the Buried and Me (in a respect way), HD talks about the wonder of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen and ‘The Shrine’ by Fleet Foxes. They both get detrailed thinking about the Lemonade album by Beyonce. Tyler talks about Meatloaf and the expansion of music production during that era, and notes the band Wilhelm Scream and how short their songs are. HD wishes ‘Generator (First Floor)’ by Freelance Whales was longer, as well as some songs by Patients and unkle stiltskin (the early release band names of Radical Face). HD and Tyler both discuss how hard it is to end stories and songs. It’s also sometimes hard to end podcasts (though Tyler and HD have no trouble jumping right into starting them).
