Roots:    Joseph the Dreamer

When we have a friend who abuses our trust what do we do?  When the competition with a coworker causes friction in the office how do we react? When there has been too much water under the bridge with that family member, or sibling rivalries have caused a broken family system, or we have seemingly been defeated in life what is our response?

No character in the Old Testament better illustrates God’s desires for how to handle being mistreated, victimized, abused, and battered by the   circumstances in life than Joseph. He experienced victimization at the hands of his brother, homelessness, fabricated accusations, false   imprisonment, and even the threat of death, but God saw him through it time and again.  And not only did God see Joseph through the most   difficult times of his life, God brought meaning to those difficult times and in the end Joseph understood that although some people meant for evil and harm to come to him God used it for good.  That’s a powerful statement and witness for those who are going through difficult times.

As we continue our sermon series “Roots:  Back to our Beginnings.”  We will analyze the details of the predicaments Joseph experiences, ways that God rescued him, and how we too might be able to find meaning in life’s most difficult circumstances.
