Sex.Life
Yes, you read that right. I'm preaching about sex this Sunday. But don't worry. This will be a "P.G." rated sermon. In fact, I suspect parents who have not yet had a talk with their children will want to have their children in church this Sunday. Likewise, older adults, single adults, teenagers, newly married, long-time married, and really everyone needs to explore with us what the Bible has to say about human sexuality. Our culture is so sexualized yet so repressed that we have created an enigma about sex. We want to talk about it, but only in salacious manners. We ignore the deeper issues surrounding sex such as intimacy, love, commitment, and faith. We also ignore the immense value and spirituality of celibacy in singleness and fidelity in marriage.
Jesus was not silent on the issue of marriage, sexuality, and celibacy, but for most of us the only thing we know about these topics are what we've read in magazines, seen in media, or learned by first-hand experience over the years. If we are going to be faithful Christians we must begin to understand the issues surrounding human sexuality. No matter our age, we should be growing in our understanding of this God-given gift of sex.
We hope you will join us this Sunday at First Church OKC as we delve deeper into what Jesus says about sex, how our sexuality is closely tied to our spirituality, and how we are called to live as faithful Christians in a sexualized world. We hope to see you in worship this Sunday at 10:45 am at First Church OKC.
