On November 5th, 1983, four saturation divers and one crew member were killed in a gruesome accident aboard a Norwegian-operated oil rig called the Byford Dolphin.
What should have been a routine procedure turned into an absolute nightmare in an instant, when the diving bell detached and caused a rapid change in pressure known as explosive decompression.
