Description

In episode 24 (the 7th in our series on the spiritual disciplines) we dive into the discipline of confession.  We are being completely honest when we say that this episode was challenging to prepare for.  Confession is not easy because no one likes talking about or admitting to their sin.  It is something that the Bible says we should do, therefore we believe it’s important.  Why is it important for a believer to confess their sins not only to God, but to other believers as well?  What is the difference between confession and repentance?  How can something that begins with so much sorrow ultimately lead to healing and joy?  We would love for you to listen in on our very candid conversation about Confession!

Quotes:

“Confession embraces Christ’s gift of forgiveness and restoration while setting us on the path to renewal and change.” -Adele Calhoun

“He who is alone with his sin is utterly alone. . . . But it is the grace of the gospel, which is so hard for the pious to understand, that confronts us with the truth and says: You are a sinner, a great, desperate sinner; now come as the sinner you are, to the God who loves you.” -Dietrich Bonhoeffer

“We can come to God as the sinners that we are because he LOVES us!”

“It is fitting that by the confession of our own wretchedness, we show forth the goodness and mercy of our God, among ourselves and before the whole world” -John Calvin

“It is not sin, but grace that will make me know myself as a sinner.” -Andrew Murray
