Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 22. I will then key in on verse 6: Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. This is a very important verse in the Bible and, whether you are currently raising up kids in your home, or whether you are in a different stage of life and have grandkids, this is a verse that we should take seriously. I will then read an "in depth" article in my Bible's commentary entitled Train up a Child. After reading this article, I will go over three important points: 1. We are the primary teachers for our children - it is our responsibility to teach our children the important things in life (if we don't teach them someone else will); 2. When instructing your kids, talk "to" them, not "at" them. I like the term "to share" with our children when we instruct them. Share with them the important things in life (don't talk to them like you would talk to a dog when you are trying to teach them new tricks; 3. Even though we may teach our kids the Bible, as well as other important lessons about life, each individual will have to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior on their own. We can NOT make that decision for them.
