Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 8.  Proverb 8 is one of my favorite proverbs because the entire proverb talks of the excellence of wisdom.  I will key in on verses 32-36.  These verses tell us that those that listen to wisdom will be blessed.  It also says that if you find wisdom you find life, and that those who hate wisdom love death.  I will show a scriptural example of these verses in the passage of scripture entitled "Build on the Rock."  Of course, the Rock is Jesus.  Jesus is the living word.  I will read from the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 6: verses 47-49 and then I will read the same account in the gospel of Matthew, Chapter 7: verses 24-27.  I will then bring up three points specifically from the account found in Matthew's gospel.  1.  Jesus tells us that, "Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man.  In other words, if you build your life on the words of Jesus, or the entire Bible, then you will be considered wise. 2.  He then says, "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man.  In other words, if you ignore or disdain the words of Jesus, or the words found in the Bible, you will be considered foolish.  I believe there is a lot of truth to these two sayings.  The third point is that the people were astonished after Jesus completed his Sermon on the Mount.  It says, in verse 28, he taught as one who had authority.  Something about the words that Jesus spoke, and the way that He spoke them, really had a powerful impact on everyone who heard them.  Even though Jesus had no religious training, He spoke with more authority than any of the religious leaders.
