Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 9. I will then go over the fact that this proverb could be separated into three parts: verses 1-6; verses 7-12; and verses 13-18. However, on this podcast we are going to concentrate on verses 1-6. I will then reread these six verses in their entirety. I will then bring up three points: 1. Wisdom has built her house - in the Bible wisdom is many times compared to an actual person. the Bible tells us that wisdom was at the very beginning of creation. I invite you to enter this into your thinking - that God wants all of us to have wisdom; 2. The meal at wisdom's banquet includes meat and wine - in Biblical times fresh meat at a banquet entitled it to be considered a feast. Wine was also found at these get togethers. Many times, women would include aromatic spices to improve the bouquet (taste) of the wine. I will then feast on a passage of scripture found in Job (arguably the oldest book in the Bible). To think that Job penned this passage of scripture about 3,500 years ago is fascinating to me. Job understood the importance of having wisdom. The passage is found in Chapter 28: verses 12-28. I will read this passage in its entirety and then go over one more time verses 1-6 of Proverb 9.
