Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 10. I will key in on verse 27: The fear of the Lord prolongs days, But the years of the wicked will be shortened. This verse ties in directly with Chapter 5 of our study in the book of James. Today we will be going over verses 1-6. I will read these verses in their entirety and then go over three points: 1. The rich often oppress people - in James, Chapter 2, verses 6 & 7 these verses tell us that it is the rich who often drag people into the courts. Sometimes people of influence can have a tendency to treat people poorly and/or take advantage of people. Whether you are rich, or not, this is NOT an acceptable way to treat people. 2. Food, clothes, and gems were a sign of wealth. Well, that hasn't changed! People who have a lot of money today still may have a tendency to show off their wealth by buying extravagant clothing, and buy gems to show people that they have the ability to do so. I'm not against people having these things. However, I am against what James speaks about in these verses - not to treat people poorly, or take advantage of people if you are in this position. 3. You will reap what you sow. (Galatians 6: verse 7). Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for what er a man sows, that he will also reap. I have brought this verse up on a number of podcasts. The reason I do is because this is a spiritual truth that I believe needs to get in the heart of everyone! This is a semblance of the Golden Rule - Treat others the way you would like to be treated. I don't believe anyone likes being treated poorly, or taken advantage of . I will then review our verse of the day: Proverb 10-27 and review it. If you have the fear of the Lord, you will not take advantage of people or treat them poorly - and your days will be lengthened. But, if you do, they may be shortened. In conclusion, let's live life and treat people the way that Jesus did, or the way that we would like people to treat us - with kindness, and love!
