Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 13.  I will then key in on verse 9:  The light of the righteous rejoices But the lamp of the wicked will be put out.  Friends, once we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our Spirit is immediately changed.  We then have the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead.  However, our body will be exactly the same as it was before, and our sourish realm (our mind, will, and emotions) will also be the same.  Paul tells us in the book of Romans that our mind needs to be transformed - but that is something that takes place over time.  I will then transition to our study in the book of James, Chapter 5.  I will read verses 13-20 in their entirety and address three points:  1.  We need to confess and pray - once we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior all of our sins are forgiven, even those we have not yet committed.  However, if we knowingly sin, I believe it is healthy for us to repent of that sin - and to ask for forgiveness (especially if we have wronged someone).  These actions will make it possible for the wronged party to realize that we are different than most people.  If we humble ourselves before people, it will open the possibility for others to see the goodness of God; 2.  The fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much - this is verse 16 of James Chapter 5.  I will then go over an example found in scripture showing that verse in context in the Bible (1 Kings 18: verses 41-46).  This is a wonderful example of the power of prayer.  3. All of Heaven rejoices when one should come to know the Lord. (Proverb 11:30 tells us the important of soul winning).  In Luke 15: verses 4-7, it tells us the parable of the lost sheep - the story of when Jesus says that the shepherd will leave the 99 sheep in order to save the one lost sheep.  Such a powerful portrayal of the love that Jesus has for each and every one of us.
