Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 14.  I will then key in on verse 33:  Wisdom rests in the heart of him who has understanding (I am only going to discuss the first portion of this verse).  I will then give an example of someone who had wisdom - John the Baptist.  I will introduce him by going to the book of Isaiah, Chapter 40: verses 1-5 and verse 9.  I will mention that the first two verses are found in the Messiah (George Frederic Handel) -in a tenor solo - and verses 3-5 are another tenor solo (also from the Messiah).  I used to sing these two solos on a regular basis!  I will then go to the actual account of John the Baptist found in the Gospel of John, Chapter 3, verses 22-37.  This is where John was baptizing people in the river Jordan and Jesus and His disciples were also baptizing people further down the river.  John's disciples were distraught that Jesus (whom they considered to be a disciple of John the Baptist) was becoming more popular that John was.  John put them in their place, and informed them that he (John) had to become less, and that He (Jesus) had to become more.  He revealed to them that he was from earth, but that Jesus was from above (Heaven).  He said that Jesus was above all.  John had the wisdom to know who he was, and what his purpose on Earth had been (and stated that his purpose had been fulfilled).  He would soon be imprisoned and executed - while Jesus would soon begin His public ministry.
