Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 20.  I will then key in on verse 20 - Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp will be put out in deep darkness.  The fifth commandment tells us to Honor our Father and our Mother.  Many people have a hard time with that, as they don't have a close relationship with their Earthly parents and have pretty much divorced themselves from their parents.  If that is you, you are not alone.  May I suggest that if that is the type of relationship that you have with your parents  that you simply pray for them.  This verse goes beyond that.  This verse is warning people to not curse their parents.  If you do that, this verse is telling us that things will not go well with you.  I suggest you heed this verse and not do that.  Today I will be introducing you to Abraham, now known as the Father of our Faith.  This is the third person in our study in Humility.  Abraham, who was born Abram, showed humility by obeying God.  In Genesis Chapter #12 (verses 1-3) God tells Abram He will bless him and that, through him, all of the nations of the Earth would be blesses.  God asked him to leave his country, and all the people whom he had ever known and to go to the country that God would show him where He wanted him to go.  That showed a lot of humility.  I will also read Chapters 15: verses 1-6; Chapter #21: verses 1-6; and Chapter 22: verses 1-8.  The greatest humility shown by Abraham (whose name has now been changed by God) is when God asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac on the altar.  Abraham had so much faith (and humility) that he was prepared to kill his son Isaac on that altar.  Since he was willing to do that, God provided a sacrifice for the offering, and all of the nations of the Earth are now bless through Abraham.
