Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 22. I will then key in on verse 4 - By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life. What a great verse. I am currently on a study of famous people of the Bible who walked in humility. Notice the connection between walking in humility and having the fear of the Lord - but what I really like is the promise that comes with it - if you walk in humility and have the fear of the Lord, then you will have riches, and honor, and life. Hallelujah! Today I will introduce you to a man who definitely walked in humility - one of my favorite characters of the Bible, Joseph. Joseph is introduced in the 37th chapter of Genesis and will be the primary character of the last 14 chapters of Genesis. I will read Chapter #37: verses 3-8. We find out that Joseph is the favorite son of his father, Jacob (sometimes referred to as Israel). Because of this, his brother hate him. They come to hate him even more after he shares a dream that he has had to his brothers. They plot to kill him. However, instead, they sell him as a slave to Ishmaelite traders. He is 17 years old. I will then read Chapter 39: verses 1-3. He comes into the house of a prominent member of society, Potiphar. Potiphar recognizes that God is will Joseph, and He causes everything Joseph touches to prosper. His wife makes passes at him, but Joseph refuses to sleep with her. I will then read verses 6-10. He is thrown into the dungeon, yet God was with Joseph again. Blessings continue on Joseph, even though he is a prisoner. Over the course of 13 years, when he is 30, he is brought before Pharaoh and Pharaoh promotes Joseph to his second in command - over the entire land of Egypt. Because of the humility of Joseph, he was promoted just below the Pharaoh. CALL to ACTION - I ask everyone listening to humble themselves before God and ask God what you can do for him.
