Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be looking at Proverb 18. We will then take a closer look at verse 1 - A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgement. Friends, the book of Proverbs consistently tells us to seek wisdom and to seek counsel if we need it. This verse is telling us that some people do NOT want to hear what others have to say. My advise to you is to not isolate yourself. It is crucial if we are to grow in the Lord that we have at least one close friend (I would recommend two or three) that you can seek counsel from if you have issues in life that are hard to deal with on your own. On today's podcast we are going to take a deep dive into Chapter 2 of Matthew's gospel. If you did not get a chance to listen to Monday's podcast (I introduced you to the author Matthew and showed him to you in the Bible); or yesterday's podcast (we went over Chapter #1) I would encourage you to listen to those prior to listening to today's podcast. Today I will read the first eight verses of Chapter #2. These verses tell us of the three magi (wise men) who were drawn to Bethlehem by a shining star that appeared in the sky. These wise men followed the star and it brought them to Jerusalem. There, they met the King Herod and asked him where the child would be born. These verses also mention a prophecy of the OT by the prophet Micah which foretold the coming of the Christ. I give information about Herod. I will then read verses 12-15 & verses 19-23. The main point I want to get across in these passages is the fact that the Angel of the Lord appeared three times to Joseph (the father of the new born baby). Once in chapter 1, and twice in chapter 2, the Angel of the Lord speaks directly to Joseph and warns him what he should do. What I want to get across to everyone listening today is that God still speaks to us (whether it be in dreams, through scripture, or through people that we know). Call to Action - Seek God in prayer and ask Him if there is anything that He would like to tell you that you are unaware of. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 18 in its entirety; 2. Reread Chapter #2 of Matthew's gospel.
