Description

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 29. I will then key in on verse 23 - A man's pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor. Friends, in scripture it tells us that God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. We all know what it is like to be around someone who brags about how good they are, and not many of us enjoy being around people like that. Conversely, people enjoy the presence of someone who has a gentle spirit, and does not seek attention. Use this example to ask yourself which person you seek to become. Today, we will continue our study of Matthew's Gospel. Today we will look at Chapter #6. Every word in this chapter comes from the mouth of Jesus - thus we should pay attention to them. I will look at verses 3, 6, and 17-18. Each of these three verses tell us that whether we do a kind deed for someone, whether we pray for someone, or whether we fast a meal by praying instead, Jesus instructs us to do each of these things in private. Don't boast about what you are doing, and God Himself will reward you for what you are doing. Do not seek to be recognized for the good deeds you do. If you do that, you will not be recognized. Jesus goes on to instruct us not to hoard our material possessions, but to share the goods we've been given to those who are in need. He also instructs us to be careful what we allow ourselves to look at. We are only to look at things which are pure and lovely - not things that we will cause us to have nightmares or lustful thoughts. Finally, He tells us that we are not to put money above God. I will close by reading verses 25 through 34. These verses warn us to not worry, but simply to seek first God and His Kingdom, and that God will then provide all we need to have our needs met. Call to Action - Think about where you would like to be in three years. Ask God what you need to change today in order to begin the process so you will be able to get there.
