Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 1. I will then key in on verse 10 - My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. Friends, prior to being saved this might have applied to me. I might have been enticed by sinners. However, since I received Jesus into my heart in 1995, I am no longer enticed by these things. Once we take the step of making the decision to receive Jesus, you may not change overnight - it tends to be a gradual process, but we are no longer allowed to be enticed by sinners. 1 Corinthians 6: verse 20 tells us that we have been bought at a price. We are no longer our own. We are not simply to make Jesus our Savior, but we are to make Him our Lord. With that in mind, we no longer have the choice but to obey the word of God. Today we will continue our study on Matthew's gospel. Today we will take a look at Chapter #8. I will read the first three verses. The first verse is when Jesus has just finished preaching to thousands of people on a hill. Verses 2 & 3 tell of a leper who goes to Jesus and asks to be healed. Jesus says that He is willing and immediately restores the man to complete health. I read verses 5-10. This is a well-known passage of scripture where a Roman centurion asks Jesus to heal his servant, who is at home and paralyzed. Jesus tells the man that He will come with him and heal his servant. But the man objects and tells Him to say the word only, and that he will be healed. Jesus tells the man to go home, and he is restored. I go over the Cost of discipleship and discuss our need to disciple people, and not only lead them in a sinner's prayer. Call to action: I want you to put yourself into that boat (when the waves are getting larger and larger, the lightning is flashing, the thunder is roaring and Jesus is fast asleep in the bought and ask yourself what would you have done?
