Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 15. I will then key in on verse 4 - A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit. Friends, I make every attempt to stay relevant in our current world. When I think of this verse, I think of the movie industry which primarily comes out of Hollywood, California. Most of Hollywood is extremely liberal and there are many things coming out of Hollywood which are attacking the way that most of our country believes. The one thing this verse brings out is perverseness. When I think of this word, I think of people using cuss words. This is something that has become common in the movies coming out today - even family oriented movies where that type of language, in my opinion, is not appropriate. Whenever language like that becomes coming out my spirit towards that movie changes. I often ask myself why the directors of the movie felt it was necessary to use that language? Today we will continue our study on Matthew's gospel - looking specifically at the 14th chapter. We begin this chapter looking at the story of John the Baptist having his cut off by an executioner. I will spend most of the time I have today going over the feeding of the 5,000 (which ended up being probably over 15,000 total people). Jesus is like this - a more than enough God. I then go over the account of Peter walking on the water. The account of this story is only found in the gospel of Matthew. Peter had a great deal of faith - as he was the only disciple willing to step out of the boat, yet Jesus rebukes him for not having more faith. Call to action: I want everyone listening today to put themselves in that boat. I want you to think of two scenarios - 1. that you are Peter, and how you would have felt; and 2. that you are one of the other disciples and you are watching Peter. Suggested scripture reading : 1.
