Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 19. I will then go over verse 11 - The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression. Friends, I point out this verse because this is one verse that I have made some improvements in my life with. There was a point in my life where I was pretty quick to get angry, and I was, at times, very impatient. This verse tells us that we are to be slow to anger. I believe this means that we are to develop patience. In James, Chapter 1, it tells us to let patience have her "perfect work". I believe a sign that you are acquiring wisdom in your life is that, in the area of patience, you are showing improvement, and also when you show restraint. The second part of this verse recommends that we learn to overlook transgressions as well. This may be difficult at times, but with the Holy Spirit dwelling on the inside of us, I believe that we can do this. On today's podcast we well take a look at the 15th chapter of Matthew's gospel. The themes of this chapter are very similar to the entire book of Matthew. The scribes and Pharisees question Jesus and His disciples about the things they do; 2. Jesus responds to them that they are being hypocrites and asks them why they do the things that they do; 3. someone comes to Jesus for healing (and He heals them). In this particular chapter, it is a Gentile woman (similar to the Roman centurion earlier in Matthew's gospel); next, Jesus heals a "multitude" of people. Jesus was not a respecter of persons (or diseases). He would heal the lame, the blind, the mute, those that were demon-possessed, etc. He simply healed them all. Lastly, Jesus had compassion on the people and wanted to feed them. One chapter after feeding 5,000 men (and 15,000 or so total), He feeds 4,000 men (and probably 10,000 people). The disciples still questioned Jesus as to how they were going to feed the people (even though He had just set the example of what to do one chapter earlier). Call to Action - a reminder of if there is something you need to add to your life (or take away from your life) if you want your life to be different one, two, three years from now.
