Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 17. I will then key in on verse 1 - Better is a dry morsel with quietness, Than a house full of feasting with strife. I will now tie this verse to Romans, Chapter 12: verses 1 & 2. In these two verses, the author, Paul, the Apostle tells us that we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. Friends, because of what Jesus did on the cross for us, the very least that we can do is to sacrifice our bodies to the glory of God! We are to be stewards of our bodies, and take good care of them. In verse 2, Paul tells us to "Not conform to this world". Friends, now we go back to verse 1 of Proverb 17 & key in on the word "quietness." We live in a world where we don't have quietness anymore. We're all so busy moving, shuffling, etc, that we never take the time to "smell the roses." Paul is telling us to be different than the rest of the world. Just because the world lives their lives like a chicken with its head cut off doesn't mean that we have to do that. Call to action: Allow yourself 2-3 minutes each of the next seven days to simply be quiet & allow God to talk to you. (After 7 days ask yourself if it made a difference at all in your life? If you enjoyed this exercise, stretch it out until you sometimes allow yourself an hour of quiet time with God). If you do this, I believe, and declare that your life will begin to radically change.
