Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 28. I will then key in on verses 5 & 14. I believe these two verses pretty much go together. Verse 5 tells us: Evil men do not understand justice, But those who seek the Lord understand all. Verse 14 tells us: Happy is the man who is always reverent, But he who hardens his hear will fall into calamity. An example of these two verses is found in the Book of 1st Samuel, Chapter 2. Verses 12-17 of that chapter is entitled, "The Wicked Sons of Eli." These two young men were the sons of the priest, Eli. They took advantage of their position to do evil - and would not follow the ways of the Lord, or the instructions that they had been given (by the Lord or by their father). I will read verses 12 through 17 & then read verses 27-36 of that chapter. These two young men ended up dying on the same day. They would not heed the instructions they were given. So many lessons can be taken away from this story. Friends, we need to humble ourselves before God & be reverent of Him. Call to Action - Ask yourself if you are reverent of God. If not, pray to Him that He would open your eyes, and begin to acknowledge Him. Suggested scripture reading - 1. Reread today's proverb, Proverb 28; 2. Reread Chapter 2 of 1 Samuel in its entirety.
