Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 16. I will then key in on verse 7 - When a man's ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Friends, today I'd like to share one of my favorite books of the Bible - a short 1 chapter letter from the Apostle Paul named Philemon. Paul has obviously known Philemon for a number of years and considers him a dear friend. He has helped Paul in his ministry and has now established a home church in the city of Colosse. Philemon is a slave holder and one of his former slaves, named Onesimus has been imprisoned with Paul. Paul has shared with him the goodness of God and has received Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Paul is now sending this letter to Philemon by the hands of Onesimus. Upon completion of listening to this letter I ask that you consider three things:
1. We should bless fellow believers.
2. Paul requests Philemon receive Onesimus with grace and love.
3. Paul offers to pay back for anything taken by Onesimus.
Call to Action - Do you act towards fellow Christians with the same attitude that Paul is suggesting Philemon welcome his former slave, Onesimus back into his employ?
Suggested Scripture reading: Reread our proverb of the day, Proverb 2 in its entirety; read Proverb 3 tomorrow and Proverb 4 on Sunday;
Reread the short letter (Philemon) each of the three days.
