Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today, we will go over Proverb 9.  We will highlight verse 11.  I will then go over the story of the shepherd boy David in 1 Samuel Chapter 17.  I will reacquaint you with David and remind you that he came from a family of eight sons.  His father's name was Jesse.  The three oldest sons are in the Israelite army.  Jesse asks David to bring some food to his older brothers and check and see how they are doing.  Jesse sees the champion Goliath challenging the troops of Israel and wonders why no one is willing to stand up to this uncircumcised Philistine!  He tells King Saul that he will go and fight this giant.  (He is told that if he wins, he will receive great riches, will get the daughter of Saul as a bride, and will be exempt from taxes in Israel for the rest of his life).  He confronts Goliath and tells him that he will kill him and cut off his head.  He runs toward Goliath, takes out a smooth stone out of his pouch and runs towards the giant.  He puts the stone in a slingshot and hurls it towards Goliath.  It lands inside his forehead.  He then proceeds to cut off his head with the giant's own sword and walks around with it as a trophy.
