Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today, we will be going over Proverb 29. I will then offer a few comments on verse 3. I will then give a brief summary of where we are at in our study of Joseph in the book of Genesis. I will remind the audience that Joseph is the 11th son of Israel (formerly known as Jacob). He is his favorite son, and his father gives him a coat of many colors as a way of letting people know that he is his favorite son. Joseph had shared his two dreams with his older brothers a number of years ago, and they hated him all the more when he shared these dreams. They had thought about killing him, but sold him to Ismaelite traders instead. Potipher purchases Joseph from these traders and brings him into his household. God was with Joseph and granted favor on him so that Potipher turned over all that he had into Joseph's hand. His wife had designs on him and wanted to have sex with him, but Joseph refused. One day, she is able to get close enough to him to grab his coat from him and makes up a story of Joseph trying to rape her. He is thrown into a dungeon of a jail, but the Lord was with Joseph. Joseph is now brought before Pharaoh and is able to interpret the dreams that Pharaoh had had the previous night. Because of this, Joseph goes from being a slave in a prison to the second in command in all of Egypt.
