Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be taking a close look at Psalm 17. Psalm 17 is a perfect example of why so many people go to psalms - for comfort, to soothe their minds, and to see the goodness of God. This psalm was written by King David - arguably the greatest king from Israel of all time. I will go over several verses from this psalm to show that: God is looking out for us and takes care of those that look to Him. David assures God of his innocence, and that, even though God has looked carefully upon what he is doing, He hasn't found anything wrong. David says that he is watching his words. He asks God to help keep him on the path that he should be going. He tells us that God is our protector and he will shield us from our enemies. Finally, David tells God that he is looking for God to assist him, and that David is striving to become more and more like God Himself.
