Joshua chapter seven revealed how often "pride goes before a fall" (Prov 16:18) and that secret sin will ultimately result in public shame (Num 32:23; Luke 8:17). Yet this message on Israel's subsequent success at the second Battle of Ai in Joshua chapter eight reminds us that when God's people root out sin and rely on God's mercy & Presence as promised in His ever enduring Word, even a site of failure and shame can become a place of triumphant victory. Joshua at Ai brings the glorious good news of second chances in the Lord!
