SCRIPTURE TEXT: James 3:1-18
In chapter four of his letter, James (a brother of Jesus & Early Church leader), asserts that discord among believers (as with people in general) comes from warring desires and selfish jealousies. Yet these fleshly attitudes reflect the devil rather than God. The solution according to James is thus to submit to God and resist the devil (v. 7). With a repentant heart, genuine hunger for God, and an attitude of abiding humility, we can come closer to God and each other with patient love and persevering faith.
