Faith Borkowsky from High Five Literacy and author of the "If only I would have known..." series joins Dr. Kathryn Garforth to discuss the importance of creating a multi-disciplinary approach to screening young children for risk of reading failure. If we were to take advantage of services already in place like libraries, preschool, daycare, the doctors office and more, we could screen children before they enter formal schooling. This would allow us to provide support in areas of weakness and when intervention is most effective before they begin learning to read at school.
